Assault with “caustic chemicals” (Penal Code 244 PC)

Penal code 244 defines the crime of assault with caustic chemicals.

This is where you throw caustic chemicals at another person with the intent of burning their flesh or disfiguring them. A caustic chemical is defined as an agent that is capable of burning living tissue. An example would be throwing battery acid or kerosene at somebody. Penal code 244 is a felony. If you’re convicted you could face up to four years in county jail or state prison or even longer if the victim suffers great bodily injury. As terrible as this crime sounds you may be one of those people who have been wrongfully accused. You may have been acting in self-defense or the situation may have simply been an accident, you may have had no intent to injure or disfigure the person.
